Prefer to do-it-yourself? It's simple.

1. Open a new account at Citizens Bank
   • Talk to a Citizens Banker at your nearest Citizens Bank branch or
   • Call 1-800-952-5941.
   • Stop using the account at your previous bank.
2. Move direct deposits to your new Citizens Bank account.
   • Use the automatic switch letter tool or download a sample letter to move your direct deposits.
   • The bank routing number for your Citizens Bank account opened in Michigan or Ohio is 072400528.  Use 075901998 if you have a Wisconsin account.
3. Notify companies that have payments automatically withdrawn from your old accounts.
   • Use the automatic switch letter tool or download a sample letter to send to move your automatic payments.
4. Close your account with the other bank.
   • Use the automatic switch letter tool or download a sample letter to use to close the old account.
   • Provide the account closing letter to your previous bank after you've verified that your direct deposits and automatic payments are no longer going to your old bank.
