How do I know that I'm really chatting with Citizens Bank?
You can ensure that you are chatting with a Citizens Bank commercial client services representative in a variety of ways.
  • Be sure that the SSL certificate is registered to Citizens Bank. To check the certificate, place your mouse over the chat area, right click the mouse, and select Properties. You will see the certificate name listed.
  • Our representatives will always identify themselves to you and will never ask for confidential information during your chat session.

Is text chat secure?

Citizens Bank uses 128-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption which gives you one of the highest levels of security possible for protecting confidential transactions over the Internet. However, for added security, Citizens Bank will never request personal confidential data including, but not limited to account information and passwords, and we ask that clients also do not provide confidential information during a chat session. For questions that involve providing personally identifiable information, please call 800-946-2264.

Chat sessions may be monitored for quality assurance purposes.

How to start a chat session

To start a chat session, select the Connect button. The chat session will then load in a new window.

Identifying the chat window area

The chat window area contains the written conversation between you and the Citizens Bank commercial client services representative.

How to know that a chat session has started

A chat session has started when you see the chat window open. The first message from the Citizens Bank commercial client services representative will be visible.

How to ask a question or send a message

To ask a question, mouse or tab to the Text Message box located below “Please type a message”. Type your question and either press Enter, or tab over to or click the Send button.

How to end a chat session

To end a chat session, select the disconnect button. The caption will read “session ended”.
